Changing The World One Dog At A Time
Finding A Groomer
I have always said that the key to being a good groomer, is to have a soft hand and a kind heart, but it all starts with understanding dog behavior. And when it comes to dogs I am on the same page as  The Dog Whisperer  If you have ever seen Cesar in action, then you will have a good understanding of how I treat dogs in my shop.

Your dog is a very important part of your family, so the more you know about a groomer, the more comfortable you will be in entrusting them to our care.
My best advice is to ask alot of questions, especially on your first visit. A good groomer will take the time to address any questions or concern's you may have.
I am here to provide a safe loving environment for your pet and you can rest assured that he/she will always be treated in a caring and professional manner.

Going to the groomer should be fun
One of my biggest pet peeve's is to see a dog being carried ,"trembling" into a grooming shop.          And when you try to soothe them in this state, you are only reinforcing that bad behavior.                    It may be that the dog is just not properly socialized, (a trip out anywhere will help with that), or it may be that he has had a bad experience with a previous groomer. What ever the case, a dog should never be afraid.

GROOMER'S DO NOT & SHOULD NEVER HURT A DOG

I highly recommend you let him/her walk into the shop on a leash.
Being thrust into the arm's of a stranger is not normal or natural. And I prefer to meet them on their terms. They need to be calm and comfortable before I pick them up. This is especially important on their first visit, to ensure that this is a positive experience. I give them all the time they need to check things out and get to know me , before I start grooming.
And remember, some dogs adjust quicker than other's and there are always exception's.                   But if you are finding your dog is still reluctant to go see his groomer, even after you have given him time to form a bond, I would suggest you look for another one.

Matted Dog's
This is an Extreme case
Believe it or not, I see alot of severly matted dog's this. When a dog gets into this state,
not only is it extremely uncomfortable, but in my opinion it's abuse and can lead to some
serious health concern's.
Severe matting impededs the animals mobility, makes him more prone to festering sores and infestation. The mats pull the skin so tighly that they in themselves produce pressure sores, as well as making it hard for the dog to breath.
There is no reprieve from the heat,  (a dog can only cool down by panting, they do not sweat), so carrying around a coat like this only adds to the problem.
The matting on the paw makes it impossible to find the nail, and if a dogs nails are not kept trimmed back, they can grow so long as to embed themselves in the pad. Needless to say this is another huge problem. If a dog is not able to walk properly, it can affect his whole body as he tries to compensate.
I do understand that sometimes there can be extraordinary circumstances, but as dog owners,   we are ultimately responsible for the care of our pet's. I can only hope that before anyone lets their dog get to this point, they would find some way to help their pet.

There are resources out there, your local S.P.C.A may be able to help, or at least point you in the right direction. As well, you can always call around to different grooming shops and vet clinics.
I obviously cannot offer my services for free, but I will work with you to find a way.
Perhaps a payment plan, or maybe a trade of some sort. Anything I can do to help a dog in this situation, I will.
